HISTORY
History is one of my favourite subjects, and I had a lot of fun in class this year. We learnt about a lot of American Art history which was interesting. I did a few projects such as one on Texas and Nokia. I am still unsure if I want to do History for the leaving cert as it is on at the same time as DCG which is another of my favourite Subjects.

PUBLIC SPEAKING
The module public speaking was one of the last module we did. We learnt ways to captivate an audience when giving a speech, and also how to properly format a speech for the best results. I chose to do my speech on Operation Smile because I had to write a speech on operation smile for my end of year TY ceremony anyway. I have not yet performed my speech but I am looking forward to the exam.

LEADERSHIP
Another class in this set of modules was leadership. I really enjoyed this module as we studied the lives of leaders such as Nelson Mandela. We watched scenes from movies such as Money Ball and Invictus. I feel like I now understand the importance of being a good leader. I did my leadership project on “Nelson Mandela and Muhammad Ali.”

ART APPRECIATION
One of the classes in our second set of modules was art appreciation. In this we learnt how different styles of architecture and paintings was used by famous artists in the past. It was an interesting enough module, that I enjoyed more than I expected. I did my project on Vicent Van Gogh.

RSE REVIEW
The last class in our first three sets of modules was Religion and sexual education. In this class we learnt how sexual contact can affect ourselves and those around us. Mrs Hillman showed us some different types of STI’s, how contraception works and the meaning of consent. It was good to learn about these things and I was unaware of some types of STI’s and Contraception. I did my RSE project on the STI ‘gonorrhoea.’

POLITICS AND SOCIETY REVIEW
On Friday the 13th of October my class had our last ever politics and society module class. This module was a good insight into segregation, music and life during 1950s America. However I found the the topics covered in this class were slow and slightly boring for a fourth year class. I personally feel that this module should not be continued for TY students.

CSI REVIEW
On Friday the 13th of October my class finished the CSI module class. This class focused on forensic science, mostly in the form of Crime scene investigation. I really liked this module as it was new experience that allowed us to better understand the crime scene investigations that we see In movies and tv shows. However, I was upset that I missed many of these classes due to applied maths and YSI meetings. I read through the booklet taht we were given to catch up and I feel I now have a better understanding of this subject. I would recommend that this is continued as a TY module.
